GN Solids Control is professional in separation projects, for oil and gas drilling, HDD drilling, TBM projects and other slurry treatment works, including construction slurry. Just before the Chinese New Year, GN Solids Control just completed a slurry treatment system for contrition project, and the end user is an International Engineering Company.

For this slurry treatment system, there are following important

1. Shale shaker: shale shaker is always the first step separation in many different separation works, and by using suitable screens the shakers could choose out most particles from the construction slurry, including sands and small stones. The only limit for shale shakers is the mesh size, because if too fine screens are to be used, the treating capacity would be quite small, in this condition, there have to be some small particles left in the liquid for next step separation. For this project, there are 2 sets of GNZJ shale shakers working in parallel.

2. For the fine particles between 2 to 5 microns, the most efficient solution is a decanter centrifuge. The principle of centrifuge is the separation by highly rotating, centrifuge bowl is a highly rotating part of the centrifuge, and inside the bowl, there is a impeller whose rotating speed is lower than the bowl. With the differential speed, the liquid is splashed to centrifuge collection box, and solids phase is pushed by impeller to the solids discharge ports. In this way, the separation work performs. For this project, GN suggested a GNLW553C-VFD big bowl centrifuge for a large capacity.

3. If there are even finer particles, smaller than 2 to 5 microns, then the centrifuge itself seems not so efficient. In this case, we have to use another equipment, the chemical dosing unit. It can automatically add polymer into the mud to flocculate extra fine particles into bigger ones for centrifuge to do the separation.
