A drilling rig solids control system is used to separating out the solids particles from the valuable drilling fluids and then return the clean drilling fluids back to the solids control system. And the drilling fluids, undoubtedly, are quite important for protecting the drilling bid and lubricating during the drilling procedure.

We say, there are 4 steps for solids control and 5 steps for separation in a complete solids control system, among which, the 4 steps solids control including shale shaker, desander cones, desilter cones and decanter centrifuge, and 5 steps for separation means the 4 steps solids control plus the degasser. When the drilling mud comes back from well, it brings lots of particles and also some gas bubbles. And such bubbles reduce the efficiency and service life of the pumps in the following procedure, that’s why the degasser is quite important.

For this client in Indonesia, GN provided a vacuum degasser and some centrifugal pumps.

1. GN Vacuum degasser. There are mainly 3 kinds of degassers, and vacuum degasser is one of them. Comparing with other degassers, GN vacuum degasser is kind of self-sufficient, which means, it doesn’t need an extra feeding pump with large horse power, it sucks in the mud with vacuum force and discharge it after separating the bubbles. In a mud system, it can even serve as a mud agitator. Besides the vacuum degasser, GN also has centrifugal degasser available.

2. GN Centrifugal Pumps. Centrifugal pumps are widely used in a solids control system, like the feeding pump for desander cones, feeding pump for desilter cones, and also the jet mixing hopper’s pump. And comparing with the whole mud system, the centrifugal pump is one of the consumable parts. GNSB series centrifugal pumps are fully interchangeable with Mission Magnum pumps, and for pump casing and impeller, which are undoubted spare parts, GN use hard alloy for a longer service life.
